Your Garden Is A Valuable Asset

Your garden could be a gold mine and by spending a little time doing it up, you could unlock its value and increase your property price with just a few simple tasks.

Before you do anything, ensure that it is neat and tidy. Cut the grass and cut back any overgrown shrubbery and don't forget to de-weed! Anything that is worn or broken should be thrown out as it will just make the whole garden look really untidy and unpleasant, which you don't want.

A great way to instantly make the garden look neat and more inviting is by having the lawn re-turfed. This will get rid of that old brown and dead grass and make the garden look lush and inviting and while your home is up for sale you can picnic on it!

Adding in a water feature is something that everyone loves in the garden so why not put one in? They don't have to be huge but the sound of running water can be really therapeutic and can instantly attract people to your property as they will be able to imagine themselves relaxing in it.

Many people are concerned today with green issues so show you care by adding something green in. Even a wooden seating area with solar powered lights or something simple like that could interest green buyers and boost the value of your property.

You could update your garden furniture so that it looks nice too - it helps if you can make the garden look lived in and used so that anyone viewing the property can imagine themselves actually living in it.

If you have a garage or a shed perhaps you could consider turning it into a 'summer house' where you can dine in the warmer months. This is a great feature as not many homes have them anymore so it could make it very attractive to people who view your home.

If there is no parking or it is hard to park near your house you could turn a small front garden into a drive to attract buyers who have cars. Only do this however if you have another garden as removing the only one might cause the value of your home to decrease.

It is very important to keep the garden well maintained at all times if your property is on the market. Even if you have to pay someone to do it for you, it is well worth the money and effort.

Remortgaging is a great way to finance a garden improvement project, and you may also be able to benefit from a lower interest rate when you get a new deal too!
